Slow going, Big week

We're still waiting on the ESA to get back to us. We are hoping to have the insulation done this week, or at least start it, but it is not an easy go when the ESA has yet to approve the house electrical. As a result, we're trying to putz around to other things. Jack (our contractor) has suggested the stairs both at the back and the front of the house. We're also trying to get the sauna moved, but that is like pulling teeth!

Anyway, Anchor Photo 1:

Some other interior shots, including the electrical light and switch wiring for the pantry..... yes.

And of course, the guys. We've run out of the siding, and it needs to be ordered from Winnipge (who ordered it in the first place?!) So the guys are finishing off the gables, then moving to the screened in porch. YAY!

Onward! I want to move in!!!

Now we have siding!

As the siding project comes to a close, we are still waiting on the Electrical Safety Authority, or ESA to give us the go ahead with our insulation. We anticipate that may be next week. For now, we finally get a better view  of our odd colour choices:

I actually like the play of colours, especially with the pop of white on under the roof and around the windows.

In my opinion, the back of the house (that facing the road) is mighty plain, and boring. I keep attempting to picture the look of the ornaments and decorations that I will be adding, plus grass and landscaping, but it is difficult to picture. Please, keep in mind that the house needs plants!

Our ducting, looks like we need that vent to go higher!

A view from our bedroom, looking into the doorways of the guest/kid? rooms. I just like how we actually fit all the rooms on the main floor :)

Okay, that's all for now. I don't anticipate much until the ESA is contacted. We are also fighting to get our sauna down to the bottom of the property. It would be really REALLY nice if we could use it before the summer is over. The clock is ticking... and we'll have to go back to work before we know it. Gosh, I want to see progress so badly!

We did buy all of our flooring, and now all the lights. We're looking at getting our cabinet guy to do my master bathroom cabinets, since we can't find anything that works for my tastes. Additionally, we're still working on buying appliances, but the fridge is causing a problem. I am looking for a bottom drawer freezer with a pull-out drawer that actually pulls out right, and am having no luck. As a result, we may not get the appliance set we had chosen, but will still be looking for a similar set. I just hope that can be resolved next week. SIGH! Bleeding money :)Filling the wound with dreams!

July 21st, Old Updates

I was off on my updating, sorry. Truth, not much happened after dad left. The contractors finsihed up their plumbing, and then nothing.... they were gone for some three days without any progress, leaving much of what we saw to remain the same. Here are a few photos of the finished electrical work, as well as SOME of the plumbing.

A photo of the siding:

A photo of the coiled wire at the breaker box, which kills me because we actually forgot one light in the pantry. DARN!:

A picture from the living room with some of the plumbing:

There will be a current post following this one. I'm trying to keep the updates sequential.

This party Hit the Road!!!

This week, Dad and Mom came down to wire the house... except Mom and I were occupied this week with some strange doings. The house keeps trucking along, and with the wiring almost done, things are starting to move into the house. They guys put up some siding today so we had placements for the electrical fixtures, but mostly, it was because they were bored right?!

No really, what do you think of our Wine colored roof and our green siding?

Even though Mom and I decided to take a road trip, first to Virginia MN, then happened to continue to Duluth... how did we get there... completely unplanned, everyone has been pitching in to wire the house.

John came down for two days to start the wiring... Look at John's arm-pit, he's got a rainbow on him. HAHAHA!

Dad of course is doing the most.

Then there is Josh, who is doing a fabulous job of learning new skills. He is doing great!

Then there is Mom... who has been working hard, cleaning, and wiring too! I didn't know she could work that hard!

And then there's me. Yes, I have taken all the photos, but there are only so many hammers and ladders, and I drove all the way to Duluth and back in a day with Mom after a massive shopping trip.... and did I mention I was tired.

But I did do some work after my Nap!

So, on we truck. We've done a lot of work. Below is our bedroom/living room plugs.
ONE WALL's WORTH!

And of course, my Kitchen is coming along nicely!

AND, in the basement is a mass of wires. The picture may not be good, but you can certainly see the mess going into the utility room. What a mess!

Onward to the final stages of wiring. We have another day's work, about that anyway, and then we will be all done. What an awesome week this has been!

OH!!! THE POWER!!!!

Good day!

Electrical started yesterday, and windows are now up! I had a super fun day swimming with mom and reading books. We also met with our lovely neighbors and sat in their screened-in porch to chat away the afternoon. Mom also got a look at how screened-in porches work because she didn't quit understand.

Anchor Photo 1: Mom's on the porch when we arrive....

Anchor Photo 2:

It was awesome to see the windows! I was shocked at how fast they went up, and how beautiful they look. The doors are up too!

Looking from the inside....

Dad's wiring plan. It's amazing that he can understand all of this. Dad and John (a friend of ours who is also an electrician) set about putting up the electrical boxes and getting things ready.

And of course, I'm useless. My job for the time being is to take photos of everything. It is a good job for me, because I am the one blogging about it all.

So, today we're going to continue to work on the house, and we'll probably not update until Monday. Until then, I'm going swimming!

Straight through the trees...

Just a photo update. Not much yet, as the windows are going up. I have the course running as well, so I've not been out there much. Windows up this week, Dad next ▬___▬ ♥

We got a lens-flare!!! YAY!

And.... I just noticed that we can see our house from the bottom of the property! Where's my house? Straight through the trees~!

A lovely sunny day on my deck.

I say "My deck!", and I mean it. Josh will not own it! I will have a barbeque on it, and my porch furniture will be on it... AH! AWESOME! Anyway, Roof's up!

Anchor Photo 1:

Anchor Photo 2:

My mother-in-law thinks the roof is Purple too... my father-in-law says WINE color is probably more accurate. I am happy either way.

We had a lovely day sitting on the deck and swimming! The weather couldn't have been better! Warm, slightly breezy, sunny through-and-through!

The house has had a lot of progress going on. Let's take a look at the insides:

We now have the mud-room right off of the entry-way (roadside). This divides the house main-floor finally, and gives me a better idea of how big my kitchen is... sadly, I didn't take photos of the kitchen though. Lovely high ceilings!

And look! We have stairs in our house! I am protected!

We went through the house looking at everything in it's current stage, close to ready for windows (next week). This amused me... I know they are just chairs, but we didn't put them there. It looks like the chairs from our sauna (stored for when we visit) have been relocated and placed on the deck. I hope that our workers enjoy them! They've been doing such an amazing job! I can't speak well enough of their work! Still, it was so cute to see the chairs out!

And, the view, again! It almost looks like a painting! I am so blessed!

So now we wait until Thursday or so for the windows to go up. The team is going to be busy on another project this week, and are planning on installing the windows later on in the week. Next weekend, after my kid's baking camp is done, my Dad is coming up for rough-in wiring. I am excited for him to visit and enjoy the magical view!

HUGS!

Ameagari - after the rainfall

What a busy week! I realize posts have been few and far between, but with the weather and the Canada Day weekend, there was not much progress made. Here is a little show of July  3rd's and 4ths' progress.

July 3rd:

Anchor Photo 1:

Anchor Photo 2:

As you can see, in the 2nd photo, the screen porch is going up. This is because the roof work is in the works. With the delivery of the tin roof, things are all set-up for some roofage!

The septic field was also buried as well as the septic unit.

Here is some Septic Info:

July 4th:

We're Canadian, this is just another day :(

Anchor Photo 2:

The Anchor Photo 2 had to move slightly because of a giant tractor in the way. As you can see, we have a roof going up! Now, the workers have been bugging us about our 'purple' roof... it's not purple, its burgundy! And it's beautiful!

We also have a big step towards happiness... our sauna how has a pad to stay on! And our path is looking smoother! No more death rocks, now there are only a few tree roots to trip you up! Not bad!

Now, I look forward to getting more roofing done. They were able to place more tin pieces on before the storm hit, but the progress stalled because of severe lightning.

IT WAS AMAZING TO WATCH!!

I hope to have another update on Friday. See you then!
